In A Shocking Accident, how does Jerome’s question “What happened to the pig?” suggest Graham Greene’s belief that life is basically absurd?
Greene’s suggestion about the pig is a demonstration that life itself is a mistery, but most of all it is absurd at some points. No one is going to get killed by a pig falling from the sky or that’s what I think, because I haven’t heard that pigs fall out of nowhere.

List
He tries to ignore the fact that his father died because of a pig, he tells false stories of his father’s death in order for people not to laugh, he doesn’t tell anyone about his dad, if someone asks him he ignores them, etc.

Ironic
I think that the tittle is absolutely ironic, because when someone hears “A shocking accident” they would think that something tremendously dangerous happened to someone. For example a plane crash, car accident, brain tumor or something like that, but to think that a shocking accident is a pig falling out of nowhere is a little ironic. First of all, pigs don’t fly so there isn’t an explanation that the pig should be in the sky. Second, people don’t transfer pigs through helicopters or planes. Third, people do not raise the pigs in buildings. Fourth and last, there isn’t any logical explanation that a pig had fallen from the sky and killed a person.

Jerome’s problem
Jerome’s problem is that he can’t find a way to accept how absurd his father’s death was, so he begins to make up a lot of stories of how his father died. And then he meets a pretty lady who has become his fiancée and now he tries not to talk about his father because he can’t tell her the truth. Of course, he is scared that their relationship will become a joke and she will burst into laughs when she hears it. But one day they were eating with his aunt and suddenly his father’s death came to the talk and the aunt told her. Jerome was devastated, but as he realized that his fiancée hadn’t laugh nor make jokes then he knew that she was the one for him and that she had accepted him the way he was.

I would also feel embarrassed by how my dad died, because it wasn’t a usual way for his death. Probably I would also start by telling another story I had made up. An if I had a fiancée then I would tell him the same made up story, because I am a person that can’t stand people laughing at her.

Social Criticism
The Rocking-Horse Winner: This criticism is based on money, because this family had so much fear to be criticized for the amount of money they had. They were also concerned because they were the only ones in the family who had bad luck. So for example, the mother had to had many precious materials to demonstrate her wealthiness, but as she went on with her greediness she didn’t understand she was killing her own son. At the end of the story she is criticized by everyone because she hadn’t paid much attention to her son and now he was far away.

A Shocking Accident: In a this story the social criticism is based on the on how people would react to a different type of death. This character, Jerome, is completely embarrassed by the fact of how his father died, because maybe people would laugh just to hear what happened. He is scared because the criticism in someone’s life also affects his or her self-esteem level.

Paul
He says that when he won his bets he was testing his luck and that as he always won then he had the good luck for himself. Like when he started winning some money and realize that his own father hadn’t won as much as him in the same time.

rocking horse
His rocking horse simbolizes his luck, as he plays with it he gains more luck and if he doesn’t rock his own horse then he isn’t able to say who will win.

relationships
The relationships that the story presents aren’t open, because everyone knows what is happening but no one tells it out loud and as they get more stuff they become more greedy so their greed keeps them aside.

Uncle Oscar
He tries to say to Paul’s mother that Paul is better dead than rocking his horse just to satisfy his mom’s ambitions. He tries to maximize the importance because the mother doesn’t see that it was her fault. I do agree with him because maybe the mother needs to open her eyes for her child.

Class
I think that even if you belong to the upper class you need to value the objects you have and also the money you possess. Sometimes people forget what they really have in their hands, but the important thing is to have in mind the importance of money, objects and stuff. My way of life is different from other and throughout my life I have experienced and challenged myself to succeed with my family’s support but alone. I have learn to be independent.

What can you tell about her from the poem?

I can tell that she is deeply in love with her husband and she is blind because of the man who occupies her life. She loves him so much that she can’t think of another way of expressing herself so she starts by describing how much she loves him in every way: in length, height and deepness. She isn’t obsessed but she is madly in love with a man who has made her happy every day just by breathing, so now she is dying to “give” him the “same” back. So she tells him in her poem how much she would’ve given him. Every breath, every smile, every tear and every love she had.

What can you tell about him from his poem?

I can tell that he is feeling a little bad with himself due to the fact that he is going after the girl, but he isn’t receiving the same back. He feels disconsolate, rejected and even played at. Maybe this man wants too much a woman to love him and the only woman who is near that is the one that rejects him. Now he is chasing her because he thinks that one day she will change and live a happily life with him.

Intensity and strength
From a point of view of a teenager in love the sonnet of Elizabeth “Sonnet 43″ is the perfect way to describe how you feel. As a teenager you feel the intensity of love as if you would never love again. For me this sonnet is the most wonderful sonnet of all. But comparing this sonnet with “Life in a love” I can see that she dedicates all her life to him, but he says that his partner pulls him back! I think that the first poem is much more intense. In Sonnet 43 the girl thinks she gives a lot for him, but doesn’t repress anything.
For example: There is a girl who changes her whole way of life just to stay with the boy she likes, but only if she changes for good.
In “Life in a love” he thinks that she doesn’t care about him, but he loves her too much to let her go. For example: A boy always carries her stuff, takes her anywhere, buys her everything, takes care of her and she doesn’t even responds him with the half he does.

Have you ever been in love?

Yes! I AM IN LOVE! I love the way it feels when I see him coming towards me, he makes me nervous and I do feel butterflies in my stomach every time I see him or even when I hug him. It feels pretty amazing to have someone at your side all the time, but the best part is when you know that he loves you back.
How did it end? Are you kidding me? My love would never die nor end. It is too big that you couldn’t measure it.
I have a story for you, well, every time I ask my boyfriend: how much do you love me? He answers: 7 more times than you think! This anecdote gives a lot of meaning to our relationship!

My poem
My poem would be fair and by “fair” I mean that neither would he do more for me nor I would do more for him. No one would be chasing the other one, because in order to have a good relationship you need to have a balance between genders. My poem would also be incredibly cheesy! Yes! I love being cheesy, but only if my boyfriend responds the same way. It would be awful, awkward and painful.

Not all metrosexual guys are homosexual

Why do people critize other people who aren´t like them? How can you critize a person by their looks? Are metrosexual guys gay or do we tend to confuse them just because they tend to be well groomed?

Metrosexual guys are the ones who worry about their physical appearance. But homosexual go further than just the appearance. Why do you think girls can get well dressed and put on some make up and never be critized? But a guy can´t even pick up a great shirt because people critize the way the dresses.

A lot of people can´t even see a well dressed guy. I think here in Guatemala we have critized every human being just by his/her looks. It is unfair! Why wouldn´t you give a chance to meet a special person who is inside of a cute outfit? Personally I think we are all different and in some ways we need to understand the differences.

So first we need to accept that we, Guatemalans, have a big problem. Accept the problem and start accepting others. When you have accepted the difference and people too, then you can start by socializing with the “weirdos” as you have called them.

At last, to be good citizens we need to really love them. Try to be their friend and at the end you will have a variety of friends and then you will be thankful for reading this incredible blog.

Introducing the new phone with alternate usage, this phone can be connected all day to internet, this means you will never miss a single update of what is going on with the world. This phone has been designed for the use of business men, but now days are used by many teenagers. There are a lot of new phone plans in Guatemala, which aren’t expensive so a lot of people can afford them. This plans include internet at all times, so society is obviously going to react different with a new advancement in technology. A long time ago people didn’t have much technology and internet, but now all the world is controlled by the material things and of course the technology.

This new cellphone is named BlackBerry (BB) it is also highly known for its BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) which is a messenger that’s free cost if you talk with other BlackBerries, this is another way teenagers tend to have an access to all the information. This device is completely important to a teenager, because he/she manages his/her homework sent from internet. Internet is global and even the own schools are working some assignments given through the internet and is these teenagers have the a device that tells you if an email is sent, delivered or received then it is better to be sure and maintain a good record of your assignments.

I think that it is also better for teenagers to be free to use their cellphones at all times and even more qualified if it is a BlackBerry, if teenagers have the curiosity to respond to all the pending notifications they won’t be concentrated in class or at school in general. If they know they have to check the notifications someday they would be concentrated on the cellphone and not in other things. So I think that if someone gives permission to them to use the cellphone then they would decrease that curiosity and pay more attention.

Scruptukus

In a late night of 2012 summer there was a girl named Amy in this Scruptukus valley. She had played with her dolls all summer but the last day of summer her friends wanted to do a bonfire, so they made it in a little shelter outside their houses. When the fire went out they had already slept, except for Amy. She couldn’t sleep because she was scared and lonely without her bedroom but as she hugged her doll she became more secure. But at 3:33am she watched her clock and the little doll lightened with the light of her clock and she stood up and threw the doll away. She had seen her doll full of blood and in an instant spiders starting coming out of the doll and she ran to her house. At the next morning the police men found Amy in the floor with all her dolls on top of her and the blood was spilled all the way through the house.

Love story

One time at the airport there was a woman named Hailey and a boy named Danny. They had never met, but they kept running into each other all the time. At the taxi, entrance, flight, plane’s bathroom, plane’s hall and they were even going to the same place, a little town called Weshu Weshu. It was a very nice town and in that town they kept bumping into each other and as she was leaving the ice cream store the Danny didn’t notice she was pushing the door and he crashed and Hailey spilled all her ice cream in her face… They both turned out in the hospital, but as they got out of the hospital they didn’t remember each other so they met at the hospital and had kids and they were named David and Annia. But their parents died in a car crash and now their kids live to tell the story.

As she walked away of the bar the guy followed her again.

1. This comic is satirical because as they show how the business man, fat man, gets all the money as the other people suffer. So then you can take a look at the small man who can’t do anything about it. As the fat man eats, gets, and do what he wants the other people are trying to get a good business from whatever they have.

2. I was navigating in the ocean, trying to find a new place to stay because I had escaped from my country, well my parents didn’t want me there right now. So I learned how to sail in that very same trip. after navigating for about five hours I had wrecked the ship. I couldn’t go any farther and at this point I really didn’t care about my belongings so I left the ship and grab my little floating boat and stayed there sleeping all afternoon. Seven hours had passed and I had found land, I just woke up as if I had known this land, grab a coconut and started eating about six of them. I was so thirsty and hungry that I could eat a mammoth and as I imagine myself eating a mammoth I actually saw one. It was part mammoth part human. I couldn’t believe it so I shook my head and rubbed my eyes, and in fact they were human mammoths. They were this big humans who cared a lot of people who they have found, so they treated me like a little baby and grabbed me by one leg and place me in their backs as they took me to their big tippies. There was an alpha male human mammoth who was named Manny, just like Ice Age the movie so I really started to freak out because it all turned out to be so strange. But I calmed myself up as I stared for a little while to the peaceful society they had build up. They had nurture me so well that I couldn’t complain with anyone at all. They had searched for food all day and they had brought me excessive quantity of food, like they were trying to hard to get my acceptance and I couldn’t understand why because I was this little human who they could just kill by one blink of an eye. I was grateful to have found amazing creatures in my life and then when I got back to my country I told my parents and came back to live with this amazing creatures. I was grateful and I will always be.

Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. Jealousy often consists of a combination of emotions such as anger, sadness, and disgust. It is not to be confused with envy. Let’s start with that word. Why do people feel jealous? Why do they keep up with the same thing… I hope that some we all agree in the same terms. I mean all types of people feel jealous at some point and we all have accepted the blame for been too out of hand. I have ridiculed myself by being jealous with stuff that really don’t matter. I have been in that position of awkwardness and rage were you can’t know yourself at all. I have been my whole life trying to hide my jealousy and it hasn’t been a good decision so I say to the jealous people who if you want to express yourself and let it out, do it! But..

Yes! There comes the problem. A lot of people aren’t going to bear the jealousy around them and maybe they will even build a barrier over people who tend to exaggerate. Sometimes I really try to understand people who are extremely jealous, but as they say “Jealousy is pure insecurity” and maybe it is or maybe it isn’t but what I do believe is that if it goes further it goes out of control. I am an understanding person with other people, but jealousy to the limit… NO! I wont handle it well.

So people, please start living your life without that “insecurity”, but most of these people are BOYS. YES! I have searched for an answer to the famous question. Why do boys tend to get so jealous and girls can’t be jealous as they are? But my conclusion is that it goes a little bit further with the chauvinism. They think that we, girls, are going to stay in a well protected house were everything is colors and rainbows. And where no man is allowed to enter.

Well, boys don’t get cranked up because I’m just saying the truth. I ain’t going to stay in a barred house locked from the outside and not even my best male friend is going to be able to visit me or even see me. I ain’t going to obey your ridiculed thoughts. I ain’t doing that just for pleasing you, I ain’t going to do it and I hope that women like me are going to do the same. So let’s get back to boys, because us girls need to be able to manage and control a man. So they deserve what they have asked for. Let’s lock all the boys in one big castle where they can just socialize with other boys, men or grown men and maybe then they will understand how does it really feel. Because I had enough, I had my time enduring their bad habits so now I will make them pay back. And when a girl wants to socialize with a boy, it would be difficult because you have to be a girl in which he owns. Only couples would be able to see each other.

As men have gone far, why can’t we go farther? What gives men the power to keep up with the fights of jealousy and we as girls to stay shut as they speak. We need to speak up or act as they deserve. As all they have done to us they deserve more than being locked up in a castle. Maybe they need a little of their own medicine, so I think of another proposal, the one that will hurt them and ache them in their bones or maybe their heart will be stroke by an arrow. We should locked them up in a room and make them feel pure jealousy as they see us through a window with another man, maybe play some games with their messy minds or we could even make them want us as much as they can and never do something to help them get it from us.

I would think of another proposal, but this one isn’t so mean at all. This last proposal talks about being the nicest girl ever, to show the good side to the man we love but behind his back we know all his darkest secrets because maybe we know him better than he knows himself. We should always keep up a record of the girls we feel jealous and behind them see the evil acts they do behind our backs. Know what they are really doing and punish them by being the best mate they have ever had in their life.

Although I have seen a lot of people suffering all around town I haven’t seen such whole in any location apart from this one in zone 2. It is hard to believe that the whole is at least 30 stories down, and it also involved a lot of people. There was people who got frightened all around the same area and they had to take some precautions of course. This sinkholes can only get bigger unless our country acts quickly and starts filling it up in order for people to move around that location already mentioned.

SOLUTIONS:
- That the government fills the whole with the material that came down from the buildings and houses.
- The government should find a person who has a strict relationship with a person that owns a material company.
- Ask countries for help, but the ones that we have a strong relationship.
- Have a place where all the people can bring the sand that they have picked up from the floor.
- That the government selects some people who can work in the organization of placing the sand in other places.
- Build another building.
- Sell the location to a company so they can build whatever they want with the government’s support.
- Place all the sand that the government recollects on the hole of zone 2.
- After placing the sand another solution would be placing a layer of building material to make it more complex.
- Get collaboration from all the embassies of Guatemala situated in other countries.

DANGERS:
- People falling in the hole.
- Cars falling in the hole with people in it.
- Not being able to fill it with anything and then people suffering because they can’t move through that hole.
- That the sinkhole spreads around.
- That the sinkhole affects the houses around.
- The people around the sinkhole need to move to another location so they have to leave their houses.
- People loosed a lot of their possessions due to the Agatha storm.
- A lot of people can die if they get to near the sinkhole if the government doesn’t close it.
- People who need to see how to fill the sinkhole are in danger too and they would be the more exposed.

2. I wanted to share this completely shocking story with all my readers of my blog. There was a natural disaster in Guatemala, were a tropical storm entered and took a lot of houses away. There were a lot of human lives taken by this disaster and it all came as chaos. There were people who lost their home, including me. I lived in Antigua Guatemala since I was seven years old but it was horrible how we saw people suffer. I was in a well protected house so nothing happened with my family, well we just got scared.
So it all happened on a Thursday afternoon in Guatemala were suddenly it came a tropical wind and storm and nobody could know what was happening. There was a guy from the news who had told us that there was going to be a storm, but as always people don’t pay attention to the weather guys when we really need to pay attention. So at the end of the day, indeed, there was a storm and a lot of wind that through a lot of houses that weren’t well-built. Then all the last-minute news started to say that there was a phenomenon happening. Yes, the famous volcano had erupted. After all this years of wondering if the volcano would affect us all with the suddenly reactions it has, now it had happened. So that night that we had find out what was happening, we were heading back to the house, so we saw all the disaster heading to all the houses. There were rocks falling from the sky that night, the length of them were about 5cm long and if a rock with that length and their respective weight could have killed someone if it hit him or her on the head.
It was a horrible experience! Workers from the company of my dad lost everything in one night. There was an old man who had been always a good worker and he lost his wife, his house, and nearly his grandchild with his daughter. We had to help them get out of their house and take the daughter to the hospital so she can have her baby. Well, it took us a lot of time to get out of Antigua Guatemala since the roads were all smashed, filled with sand that affected the car, and another factors that affected the moving towards the capital.
We arrived to town and stayed with my grandparents who live in zone 2. Well, when we were heading towards them we haven’t been able to communicate through the telephone so we just got through the road and waited until they answered. We went through the streets and roads, it seemed as if a hurricane had gone by and the rain didn’t helped at all. At this hours of the night all the people were in their houses of course because they didn’t want to get out and be exposed to the danger, so the streets were desolated and the only danger we were heading toward was the storm and the rocks. We saw a lot of houses that had fallen in the way but we saw a hole building that was falling too. We were near my grandparents house when we nearly collapsed with another car, it was a horrible experience, but the most horrible moment is when we saw that car fall into the big whole that the building had left. We couldn’t do anything about it and people died that day in the car. We were really devastated. A few hours had gone by and I was worried that my friends hadn’t answered the phone and neither does my boyfriend. I was totally scared that I was checking my phone every few minutes. I couldn’t barely stand the preoccupation and I was also exhausted because of everything I was going through.
The next hour I had already heard some things about my friends and my boyfriend so I was more in peace with myself.
I had to sleep some more so I could get strength for the next day. All the night kept on raining and all my family stayed in a big room because neither of us wanted to sleep apart.
This whole was caused by all this disaster I have described to you and it looked like an alien had landed his ship on the floor and a laser had come out of the bottom of the ship. Yes! It looked like that and the worst thing is that its profoundness demonstrated something out of this world. The next morning we went to see the whole with my dad to see if we could gather some neighbors and help clean all the neighborhood, but as we saw the big whole we couldn’t barely stand there for a second. It was so scary to even see it, I can imagine how it could be to be inside it. So on Friday we cleaned near our house and near my grandparents house, but in the afternoon the volcano erupted again and sand came out again as a rain that didn’t stopped. We had to stay home again and all the hard work that we had done was wasted in a moment. Well, now I will keep in touch with you because I have to help clean up AGAIN.
